May 17: Another day in Bollywood and another marriage on the rocks. This time the affliction has struck the leading family in filmdom - Kapoors. Actress Karisma Kapoor's marriage to Delhi-based industrialist Sanjay Kapur is on the rocks, reports a national daily.
After the glitzy wedding and the initial honeymoon period ended, things started deteriorating. The actress who had moved to Delhi after her marriage has been in Mumbai since she gave birth to her daughter at the Breach Candy Hospital in March.
A friend of the family claims that the couple has been surviving a tumultuous marriage for a while now, belying Karisma saying she was happy to wed her teenage crush.
The Delhi-Mumbai divide has been too huge a gap for the couple to bridge. It’s been tough for Karisma to quit her career and adjust to the ways of an affluent, industrialist family.
Sources reveal that Karisma has no intentions of returning to Delhi as she has been very unhappy with Sanjay for the last six months and she doesn't want to be with him.
Neither the family nor the actress wish to speak about this but an industry source reveals that this time Karisma has made up her mind and will not go back.
Karisma had set tongues wagging in 2003 when she broke up with boyfriend Abhishek Bachchan to marry Sanjay barely seven months later. Marriage on the rebound did not prove to be lucky.
Same seems to imply for Sanjay too. Although close relatives of the Kapoor family insist that Sanjay flies down from Delhi to visit his wife every weekend, industry sources claim that he’s been busy catching up with others in the city. The last time he was in Mumbai, Sanjay is said to have met up with ex-wife and designer Nandita Mahtani.
Karisma, who picked up work in films after moving back to Mumbai,is yet to dub for two of the last films she had shot, including S. Ramanathan’s Zamaanat and Suneel Darshan’s Mere Jeevan Saathi.
