New Delhi, August 18: A teacher stabbed a pencil into the head of a four-year-old after she caught him sleeping. An incision had to be made to remove a piece of lead from the boy’s head.

The family of the boy alleged that Green Field Convent School did not even provide first aid. Anas, the victim, lives with his aunt as his parents are at Moradabad.

The incident occurred when class teacher Kalpana Kumari found Anas, a student of Prep I, napping in class. She snatched his pencil and hit him on the head.

Naila Malik, Anas’ aunt, said the boy came home crying. ‘‘When we enquired, Anas told us what happened in class,’’ Malik told Newsline. She then took him to school to confront the teacher and ask authorities why first aid had not been provided.

He was later taken to a clinic where the doctor removed a piece of lead, making an incision. ‘‘There was a small piece of broken pencil lead in his scalp,’’ said doctor Ajay Sharma. Anas’ uncle, Ahtesham, then took him to school once again to demand an explanation. Instead, he alleged, the receptionist refused to let them in and told them that they were cooking up a story.

Station officer of the area Pankaj Tripathi said the child had been injured but the school authorities reacted only after they were threatened with an FIR. The family has not lodged a police complaint as they fear the child may be harassed in school.

‘‘I have checked. Nothing like this happened,’’ school manager Prithvi Singh said.
