New Delhi, October 20: BJP today asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to tell the nation what action she proposed to take against her party MP Govinda for his alleged links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as revealed in a videotape.

"We would like Gandhi to tell the nation what action would be taken against Govinda for his relations with India's most wanted man," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told PTI a day after a television channel telecast videotapes showing Govinda interacting with the don and his gang members at a shop opening function in Dubai.

Reminding the Congress chief that even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to the US and talks with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had raised the issue of Dawood, Javadekar said, "it (the videotape) is a sensational revelation and now action must follow."

Asked specifically what action the BJP wanted, he said, "it is for the Congress chief to take, but at least he must resign as MP and police must take action against him."

Reacting to the tapes, Govinda had claimed in Mumbai that they were over 17 years old, when the film actors were under pressure from the underworld, and alleged a political conspiracy behind the telecast of the tape now.

Dismissing the charge of a political conspiracy, Javadekar said, "it is not the BJP which prepared the tape and it is for everyone to see."
