New Delhi, September 9: Shedding light on the modus operandi of the Malegaon blasts, Home Secretary VK Duggal on Saturday said the bombs that killed 31 people in the textile town were made 'locally' but the conspiracy behind the attack had a larger dimension.
The bombs were "fabricated locally but...The planning and the selection of the place and the timing and the objective with which it was done is not a local objective," Duggal said.
He said the fabrication of the bombs used in Malegaon did not "need a huge technical know-how". They were low-intensity, timer devices and no RDX was used in them, he said.
Duggal indicated the investigators had found some leads, such as the bicycles on which explosive devices were fixed. "They were brand new, so that have been purchased locally," he said.
