"I'm surprised over the silence maintained by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Left parties. Why are they not condemning this irresponsible statement made just ahead of the Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit?" BJP spokesman Ravi hankar Prasad said.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi had told CNN-IBN in an interview, "In our position, the whole of Arunachal Pradesh is Chinese territory and Tawang is only one place in it. We are claiming whole of that (Arunachal Pradesh). That is our position."

Prasad said, "Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. We condemn this peculiar, deplorable and irresponsible statement made by the Chinese envoy in the strongest possible words."
