Bangalore, December 16: Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss warned protesting resident doctors of AIIMS that they may face action if they don't call off the stir.
Twenty five resident doctors at AIIMS went on an indefinite fast hours after Lok Sabha passed on Thursday a bill providing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in government-aided educational institutions.
"If this (the strike) persists, we will have to take some decisions accordingly depending on the situation," Ramadoss told reporters here.
Terming the strike as "very unfortunate", he said the striking doctors have been urged to call it off. Government has taken steps to see that patient services are not affected and they are maintained to the fullest extent.
"Doctors repeatedly going on strike is not a good sign in health scenario," he said. This is especially so in a premier institute like AIIMS, where patients come from far and wide for treatment, the Minister said.
