Congress New Delhi, September 11: Getting into election mode in the wake of the possibility of early polls, Congress recalled its aam aadmi slogan, highlighting schemes for the poor under the new Unorganised Sector Workers' Social Security Bill.

The party described the Bill, tabled in Rajya Sabha yesterday, as an important milestone to complete all promises made in the ruling coalition's Common Minimum Programme (CMP).

"The initiative will benefit the most disadvantaged sections and the poorest of the poor," Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters here.

She said it was a tremendous initiative that showed the Government's sincerity in fulfilling the commitments made towards implementing all promises made for the disadvantaged sections.

Asked if the Bill was an indication that the party was in election mode, she said, "It is an important commitment in the CMP from the last elections".

Natarajan said the social security bill encompassed the three schemes for the poor sections announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his Independence Day speech.

Under the 'Aam Admi Bima Yojana', she said all rural landless households in the country will be provided life and disability cover.

"The Finance Minister has already committed Rs 1,000 crore for this scheme in the budget," she said.
