Mumbai beat -- CR services disrupted
CR services disrupted
Central Railway local services were disrupted for some time on the harbour
line when a CST-bound local train was forced to halt near King Circle
station at 3 pm on Thursday after developing a technical snag.
Railway officials informed that the ``sleeper packing'' of one of the
coaches had broken down at Rawli Camp. They, however, maintained that the
other trains were not really delayed as the snag was repaired within one
hour.
Gold seized
Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs collectorate
today intercepted a woman passenger and siezed twenty two gold bars, a pair
of gold bangles and a pendant weighing 2.797 kilograms, valued at Rs 13.34
lakh, at the Sahar international airport here.
The woman, who arrived from Dubai along with her son had wrapped the gold
ornaments in a black cloth belt worn around her waist to deceive the customs
officials. Dutiable goods including electronic items worth Rs 1.12 lakh were
also recovered from her. Reportedly, the lady (whose identity is still not
known), was trying to hoodwink the customs sleuths by passing through the
green channel and was also seen moving in a suspicious manner.
This aroused the suspicion of the officials who intercepted and checked her
baggage. While the gold was revealed in the waist belt, the dutiable goods
were found in the baggage.
