Two nabbed for robbing actresses
Aarey sub-division police have arrested two criminals for robbing and
molesting upcoming actresses and models. Chandrakant Kamble alias Sushil and
Suresh Mane were arrested on April 30 at the Filmcity.
Police said at least three cases of robbing and molesting women were
registered with the Aarey sub-division police station against Kamble and
Mane.
The duo on January 3 this year had kidnapped and robbed Renu Surendrapal
Singh. The two had kidnapped her from her Bandra residence and taken her to
the jungles of Aarey sub-division.
On March 1 this year, the two had kidnapped a certain Varsh Bhatiya from her
Lokhandwala Complex residence and taken her to the same jungles. They had
robbed her of wrist- watch, cash and jewellery.On April 15, the two had
kidnapped and robbed a certain Supriya Karnik in a similar fashion. The
police said the two would pose as aides of some well known film producer or
director. They then would tell the actress that the director had offered her
a job and ask her to come along. A police team comprising ACP Satish
Gaikwad, inspector Prabhakar Satam, sub-inspector Ramesh Bankar arrested the
two from Filmcity after they received a tip-off that the two were going to
arrive there.
Armed robbery
A 60-year-old petrol pump manager was robbed by four unidentified men armed
with choppers and countrymade revolvers on Friday afternoon at V P Road. The
police said Chhabilbhai Shah was taking Rs 1,64,700 for depositing in a bank
at V P Road. At around 1.25 pm, four unidentified robbers attacked him
outside the bank and threatened him with weapons. When the four tried to
snatch the bag, Shah resisted them. One of the robbers then stabbed Shah on
the right hand, snatched the bag containing cash and fled in a taxi.
