Govt approves decentralisation scheme

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NEW DELHI, May 2: A lot of work currently being handled by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) will now be decided at the level of the concerned administrative ministries.

A scheme in this regard has been approved by the new Government in line with its policy to decentralise powers, according to a spokesman. The implementation of this scheme would result in substantial reduction in delays in deciding cases of appointments and promotions as many of them would not have to go through the time consuming ACC procedure. The new scheme would also considerably ease the workload on the ACC. The ACC would be able to devote greater attention to more important matters and policy.
