Plan panel `no' forces slash in aviation budget supports

[Details] Faced with the refusal of the Planning Commission to meet its demand for budgetary support, the Union ministry of civil aviation (MCA) has been forced to significantly downsize its budgetary support requirements to Rs 885.27 crore from the initial Rs 1,273.46 crore sought for the Ninth Plan (1997-2002).

RBI cuts SLR by 2.5% for finance companies

[Details] The Reserve Bank of India has cut the statutory liquidity ratio (SLR) requirements for non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) by 2.5 % to 10 % from 12.5 %. The SLR requirement of loan and investment companies as well as residual finance companies has also been amended by the central bank and has directed the NBFCs to maintain SLR on a quarterly basis, rather than on a daily basis.
