Delhi's auto driver Manoj Singh died when explosives stored in his rickshaw exploded at Vivek Vihar in Delhi on Tuesday.

Five men robbed a Jogeshwari businessman of Rs 86,000 on Tuesday evening. Aziz Patel, an edible oil distributor, was travelling in a rickshaw around 6.20 pm on Tuesday when a Maruti overtook the three-wheeler at Patel Estate Road. The robbers got down from the van and threatened Patel. The five-member gang then snatched thebriefcase containing cash and fled.

Jeweller shot

Pasarmal Jain, owner of Pramanik Jewellers, was robbed of his gold chain by two men on Tuesday. He was walking along Akurli Road, Kandivali (East) around 9.30 p.m, when two unknown persons accosted him. According to the police, one of them whipped out a country-made revolver and fired at Jain. The duo then snatched Jain's gold chain and fled. An injured Jain was rushed to Saibaba Hospital in the area.

Infant killed

A 18-month-old boy succumbed to injuries after he was mauled by a leopard in the slums of Jamu Pada, bordering Borivali National Park, on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Suresh Dashrat Bhabre was sleeping in the open at Vaibhab Nagar when a leopard attacked him. The boy was carried into a nearby forest by the man-eater. The infant's cries alarmed the neighbours who gave the animal a chase. Following this the leopard left his prey and retreated into the forest. Suresh was rushed to the Bhagwati Hospital were he was declared dead before admission, the police added.

Lifer for murder

Thane Additional Sessions Judge Borkar on Tuesday sentenced a 40-year-old jobless man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife. On September 21, 1995, the accused, Nandlal Bajrang Soni, allegedly fatally assaulted his wife, Pushpa Devi. The prosecution told the court that the culprit, a resident of Rajasthan, was married to Pushpa Devi (36) for 15 years and used to treat her cruelly.
