Susan Polgar challenges Deep Blue
DPA
NEW YORK, May 13: It beat Garry Kasparov. But can it beat Susan Polgar? Polgar, the world female chess champion, has submitted a formal challenge to Deep Blue. IBM executives say they are considering which human player should face the chess-playing computer next. Polgar's official request to play the computer was submitted within minutes of Kasparov's defeat on Sunday and stormed out of the room. Kasparov apologised later, but demanded the chance to study some of the computer's games before playing it again. Polgar said in a news release that a contest between her and Deep Blue would be a contest of woman's intuition vs machine's calculating ability.
