Crimewatch -- 17 year-old raped


MUMBAI, May 14: A 17-year-old maid servant was raped several times for the last six months by her 40-year-old employer in Wadala. The police said that Samir Rane, a resident of Wadala, is absconding after the victim lodged a complaint with the Wadala police yesterday.

According to the complaint, Rane had molested the girl around October last year and had threatened to kill her if she told anyone. Next month, Rane forcefully took her to a lodge at Dadar and raped her, the police said. On January 14 and 15 this year, Rane took her to Shirdi and raped her several times at the Saikripa lodge, according to the complaint. Rane continued with his brutality until recently. When the girl could not put up with the abuse anymore, she lodged a complaint, the police added. PCI man robbed at Kharn A cashier-cum-supervisor of the Pest Control of India (PCI) was robbed of Rs 30,000 by three unidentified persons at Khar on Tuesday afternoon.

Anand Narayan Devadiga (45), on his way to office after withdrawing cash Rs 30,000 from the Indian Overseas Bank (Bandra branch), was walking on the 32nd road near Thadomal Shahani engineering college when three unidentified persons accosted him. They stabbed Devadiga on his head and his wrist before decamping with the booty. An injured Devadiga was rushed to the Bhabha hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The Khar police are investigating the case.

Housebreakers nabbed

Two housebreakers were recently arrested by the police who recovered a large booty of gold rings, bangles, necklaces and ear rings from them. Mohammed Akhil and Mohammed Hanif were arrested by a police team comprising ACP Satish Gaikwad, Senior PI Gawade and SI Shinde from slums in Malad and Malvani. The police said the two were involved in several cases of chain snatching, house breaking and vehicle thefts in different parts of the city.
