MUMBAI, May 14: Bombay YMCA entered the Youth boys final with a close 43-42 victory over Fr. agnel Gymkhana, Vashi in the Bombay YMCA Basketball Open Tournament at the Mastan Talao court, Nagpada here today. Siddique Rizwan (21), Rizwan Ansari (10) and Amir Ansari (8) were the top-scorers for the winners while Maulick (9), Binoy and Anup (11) scored for the losers. Results: Mini League: Wellingdon YMCA 46 (Saifulla Shaikh 8, Shaikh Afzal 8) bt Bombay YMCA 4; NNH 46 (Akhtar Shaikh 11, Javed Mohd 11) bt Ghatkopar YMCA 33 (Imran 11). Shirsat to the fore: Leg-spinner Saresh Shirsat claimed three for eight today, helping Dahisar Centre to their second-successive win in the Kalpesh Govind Kohli Memorial Cricket Tournament (40-overs-a-side) being played at Matunga. Shirsat deservedly won his second-straight man-of-the-match award as Dahisar won by 35 runs. M-o-M: Sarvesh Shirsat. New Hind win: New Hind got the better of Bengal CC by 43 runs in the Shrusti Cup (under-14) cricket tournament at the Shivaji Park, today. An unbeaten 48 by Sangram Bagul and a useful 42 by Ashish Upsane enabled New Hind hit 177 for three in the alloted 30 overs. Bengal were bundled out for 134 in 26 overs, Rahul Yadav four for 30 and Aditya Kale two for 22 doing the damage. Shirish Mandrekar's fine all round performance helped Aarey CC beat Sassanian by eight wickets in another match. Mandrekar deservedly claimed the man of the match award after hitting an unbeaten 67 that followed a fine bowling spell of two for 13. Manager: Mukul Pandey (Bombay Customs).Dhekale shines: Greater Bombay Police Junior goalkeeper Pranay Dhekale was the hero of his team's 3-1 win over Sutarwar in the pre-quarter-finals of the Air-India Cup Football Tournament, conducted by the MDFA and held at the St. Xavier's ground, Parel. Dhekale made three saves during regulation time which ended goalless. Later in the penalty shoot-out, Dhekale made another three saves as GBP won on the tie-breaker. Dondhu Navale, namdeo Mohite and Eric Dorai scored for the winning team in tie-breaker while Albert Braganza was the only one successful for the losers from the spot. Mukand SC triumph: Mukand Sports Club won the Industrial Cricket Tournament organised by the Navi Mumbai Sports Association by beating Repro Sports Club in the final. Mukand scored 211 in 44 overs and Repro replied with 162 in 42 overs. Tolani-Bhand top: Raju Tolani and Vivek Bhand won the Champion of Champions Bridge Tournament which was held at the Mukand Sports Pavilion, Kalwe.
