NEW DELHI: A special joint session of Parliament will be held at the midnight of August 14 to commemorate 50 years of India's Independence. A three-day special session of Lok Sabha will also be held from from August 26 to discuss some ``specifically identified problems'' like population growth and illiteracy and if possible pass a resolution to adopt issues on the national agenda. This was decided at meeting on Wednesday.

Purulia trial

CALCUTTA: THE Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed a city court, holding trial of seven accused in the Purulia arms drop case, to hear arguments of both the parties on May 28, and if satisfied, frame charges on the same day.
