Sushil's "links" with Tanwar not probed

[Details] An internal note from the Delhi Police to the Home Ministry has said that the police failed to investigate a possible link between Sushil Sharma and Tanwar murder case. The note says that there were some "obvious clues", which were not looked into, including the fact that "two associates" of Sharma's were close to Dr Tanwar, Sitaram Kesri's personal physician.

Election Commission to "free" large animals

[Details] Faced with growing protests from animal rights activists and complaints of cruelty to animals, the EC plans to stop allotting animal symbols to political parties. Previously, when the Commission decided to do away with allotting smaller animals and birds as party symbols, it thought it had ended the problem of cruelty.

Zaire peace talks postponed

[Details] The Zaire peace talks between President Mobutu Sese Seko and rebel leader Laurent Kabila have been postponed, South African deputy foreign affairs minister Aziz Pahad said late yesterday. Pahad said Kabila had raised concerns about his safety and wanted the ship, currently anchored at the Congolese port of Point Noire, in international waters before he would board it.
