TODAY'S CROSSWORD TODAY'S ZODIAC

The hav-bhav of a genius at work

[Details] What strikes you as soon as you see Kathak's foremost exponent, Birju Maharaj, is his utter simplicity. He speaks softly and seems to be one with his inner rhythm -- reflected in his unconscious counting of time on his finger tips.

The face of Prithvi

[Details] He is as much a part of Prithvi theatre as the Irish coffee and the low granite stools at the theatre cafe. Everyone who goes to see a play there has a hands on interaction with him. Twenty-six-year-old Prabhakar Sathe or Baba, as he is better known, has been selling tickets for theatre groups at Prithvi for the last 15 years. And yet, he is not a staffer.

Stepping out to survive

[Details] Shiamak Davar's troupe is rehearsing in the St Columbas' School auditorium for their big show on May 17 and the whole set still screams of make-do. Most of the costumes are from previous shows and Shiamak grimaces as he acknowledges the fact that he has'nt got a sponsor for the show on the 17th but he refuse to stop just because people don't appreciate modern dance.
