Crime Watch -- 15-year-old raped at Kandivli
MUMBAI, May 16: A 15-year-old girl was raped repeatedly for two months by two men at Kandivali (west). Ram Yadav, 35, was arrested on Thursday after the girl lodged a police complaint on May 12. His accomplice Jadu Yadav, 28, is absconding. Police said the girl had come from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai to seek employment a couple of months ago. She was searching for a housemaid's job when she went to the Charkop industrial estate, where she met the accused. The two promised her a job and took her to their residence at Gandhinagar in Kandivali. To prevent her presence being noticed by neighbours, the two forced her to have a hair cut similar to a boy and also forced her to wear a shirt and a trouser. They also started referring to her as Santosh, the police said. The girl was raped repeatedly for two months by the two. However, the girl managed to escape last week and lodged a complaint. The Kandivali police have filed a case of rape against the Yadavs. Murder at Oshiwara A skeleton of an unidentified person was recovered from a drain at Oshiwara yesterday. The police said that the skeletone was found in a nullah on the V R Desai Road, Andheri (west). The skeleton was recovered when workers attached to the conservancy department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation were cleaning the drain. The Oshiwara police have filed a case of murder and investigations are on. Rs 8 lakh looted at Byculla Two robbers looted Rs 8 lakh and a scooter after posing as police officers at Byculla yesterday. Police said, Purushottamdas Patel, carrying Rs 8 lakh in cash was riding a scooter (MH 01 1214) at around 3.30 pm when two youths travelling on a motorcycle intercepted him at Bapu Khote street, Nal Bazar. The two told Patel that they were police officers and wanted to search his scooter. They forced Patel to stop under the Byculla bridge. They then drove away his scooter and the cash kept in the scooter's dicky. Sir J J Marg police has filed a case. No arrest has been made, police said. Truck crushes boy to death In a similar incident on second consecutive day, a 12-year-old boy was crushed to death after an over-speeding truck ran over him at Mulund on Thursday morning. The police said Rakesh Narayandas Kataria died on the spot after the truck (MP 23 B 6811) ran over him at Gurudwara road, Mulund west. Kataria, a Std VI student, was travelling on his bicycle towards Thane on the Gurudwara road at around 8 am when the truck came from the opposite direction. The driver, Iqbalsingh Parmar, lost control over the vehicle and headed towards Kataria, the police said. On seeing the truck approaching him, Kataria tried to avert the mishap but could not escape as his bicycle skid and he fell down. His head was crushed under the front wheel of the truck, the police said. Kataria was rushed to Rajawadi hospital but was declared dead before admission.
