Top honours for NNH mini boys

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICEÎMAY 16: Nagpada Neighbourhood House (nnh) beat Bombay YMCA A 52-34 (half-time 24-19) to wrest the mini boys Bombay YMCA open basketball title at the Mastan Tank Playground, today.

It was a good second half show that helped the winners quell the challenge of their arch-rivals and neighbours, Bombay YMCA. NNH outscored Bombay YMCA 28-15 with Mohd Javed topping the scoring list for the winners with 16 points while Khan Saifullah with 21 points put in a gallant display for the losers. Suleiman Patel 10 also contributed for the losers.

Central YMCA beat Agradnya Vyamshala 41-26 (27-12) in the junior boys section. Vishal Chabra (13) for the winners and Swani Zende (7) were the top scorers.

Indian Gymkhana beat School of Basketball 43-24 (20-8). S Vinod (12) and M Vinod (16) contributed for the winners.

RONAK SHAH WINS TITLE: Ronak Shah beat Uttarao Ramarao 7-5, 6-2 to claim girls under-12 title of the SK Pandit Memorial tennis tournament at the Dadar Club, today.

Keshav Narshiman won the boys' under-10 final with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Krishank Shah.

Other results: Boys u-18 (SF): Zubin Shetty bt Sunny Asaldekar 6-0, 7-6 (7-4); Sheel Desai bt Shyam Gala 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).

Girls u-16 (SF): Rekha Natarajan bt Brinda Dayal 6-1, 6-0; Anisha Shelar bt Johaun Fernandes 6-0, 6-1.

Boys u-16 (SF): Kunal Bhojwani bt Sarang Devi 6-3, 6-0; Zubin Shetty bt Shyam Gala 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.

PINTO NETS FIVE: Ronald Pinto's netted five goals including a hat-trick as Vikhroli A trounced PJ Hinduja 6-1 in the MDFA Air-India Trophy football tournament at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel, today.

Aloysius netted the other goal for the winners while Deepak Devakaran scored a consolation for the Hinduja from the spot.

HOCKEY SELECTIONS: The selection trials for the Mumbai junior hockey squad will commence on May 19 at the Khalsa College Ground, Matunga at 4.00 p.m.Players born on 1.1.76 or after are elligible. Interested players should report to the venue with playing kit and birth certificates.

The junior national championships will be held in Delhi from June 18 to July 1.
