Odds favour Sri Lanka

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MUMBAI, May 16: If the city bookmakers are to be believed, we may have a cracker of a match between India and Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium tomorrow. There might just be disappointment for home fans, for, as on Friday, the Islanders are expected to win by the slightest of margins.

On Friday night, the Mumbai bookies gave Sri Lanka a five per cent better chance of winning the day-night Independence Cup league match. A rupee on the Lankans will fetch 95 paise if they win, while the same amount will get doubled if Indians manage to beat their opponents, and the odds.

Of course, the rates will change after every over and with the fall of each wicket during the course of the match.

A bookmaker revealed that the punters don't seem as interested in this tie as they are for an India-Pakistan match. ``Even the India-Australia Titan Cup League match drew more attention,'' he said.

Already, the bookies have been besieged by calls enquiring about the rates of the India-Pakistan match in Chennai.

Meanwhile, a full house is expected at the Stadium. All the lower denomination tickets have been sold out.
