Tunga project may go the Almatti way

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for a battle on another water dispute with neighbouring Karnataka -- this time on the Tunga Project in Shimoga district, which would jeopardise the interests of farmers in the Rayalaseema region of AP, and have a direct bearing on the Tungabhadra project.

Elders protest meagre provisions for Vice Presidents

The Vice President's Pension Bill was approved - under protest - by the Rajya Sabha this evening, after Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral promised the House that official amendments would be brought in the next session. Several members criticised the bill for being badly drafted.
