Microsoft's new package

May 23: Microsoft (India) officially launched the latest version of its messaging and collaboration software, `Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0' in the city on Friday. This release will bring customers better support while dealing with Internet based applications and their developments.

``The way we work is changing dramatically -- as we enter the era of the knowledge worker, the need to build reliable, powerful and flexible information systems is stronger than ever,'' said the Microsoft Product Manager (India Sub-continent) Neeraj Shaabi at the launch function.

``With the latest release of Exchange Server we are giving companies the tools they need to share information and communicate more effectively both internally and with business partners,'' he added.

Microsoft Exchange Server is basically a business software application that combines the powerful messaging (of which E-mail is a prototype) and collaborative applications of client-server products with complete Internet protocol support.

The International Product Manager of Microsoft Corporation, Mark Van der Merwe presented a demonstration of how the product works. In all 48 gigabytes of data can be stored in this exchange, informed Merwe at the release function.
