Japan bank to aid State water project

MUMBAI, May 26: The Maharashtra government will get assistance of Rs 3,600 crore from Sumotomo Bank of Japan for drinking water projects, said a Maharashtra government statement issued from Japan. Sumitomo Bank would consider to provide foreign exchange and arrange syndication of funds for this amount for which a memorandum of understanding was signed between the state government and Sumitomo bank here today. The MoU was witnessed by Chief Minister Manohar Joshi, Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Public Works Siddarth Singh, the Indian Ambassador to Japan and Masahiko Koido, managing director, Sumitomo Bank. The chief minister who is touring various Asian countries seeking foreign direct investment into Maharashtra also met Kurosawa, chairman, Industrial Bank of Japan, Takagaki, president, Bank of Tokyo Mitsibishi,They also participated in the investment conference organised by Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi in Japan.
