Frost tames Tiger
S
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, May 26: South Africa's David Frost won for the first time since 1994 here yesterday, denying Tiger Woods a third consecutive title to capture the $ 1.6 million PGA Colonial by two strokes. Frost, who last won in Hartford three years ago, fired a three-under-par 67 in the final round to finish at 15-under par 265 then watched Wood and David Ogrin falter over the final holes in their bid to match him. The $288,000 top prize for winning his 10th PGA title gave Frost a boost after a slow start this year, missing the cut in seven of nine PGA starts and managing only one top-20 finish. Woods trailed by one stroke with two to play, but sent his approach on the 17th hole over the green and into trees. Woods then chipped into a greenside bunker and settled for his second double bogey of the day. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
