Sudhakar Deshmukh elected Nagpur rural Cong president

NAGPUR, May 26: Former MLC Sudhakar Deshmukh has been elected the President of Nagpur District (Rural) Congress Committee. His mentor Ramtek MP Datta Meghe, Rajya Sabha member Dr Shrikant Jichkar, legislators Madhukar Kimmatkar, Kishor Kashikar, Dr Shrawan Parate and Ramesh Gupta were elected to the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee as members from Nagpur district.

As expected, it was smooth sailing for Deshmukh as his rivals showed no inclination to force a contest.

Former Zilla Parishad president Ashok Dhote, was among the four vice-presidents, while another former president Baliram Dakhne was elected the treasurer.

Congress leader in Zilla Parishad Nana Gawande, former president Vithalrao Talatule, vice-president Sadanand Nimkar, Rupa Deshmukh, wife of former Minister Ranjit Deshmukh, Suresh Borade and Rajemdra Mulak were the executive members elected yesterday. Party MPs, legislators, presidents of bloc committees, district Youth Congress, Sewadal, Mahila Front and NSUI will be the ex-officio members.

The outgoing President Sureshbabu Deotale, former Minister Ranjit Deshmukh. Baburao Tidke, trade union leader S Q Zama, former legislstors Sunil Shinde, Anandrao Deshmukh and Bhau Mulak and outgoing secretary of district committee, Baburaqo Zade were elected to the Pradesh Congress Committee from different blocs in the district.
