Illegal school admission form racket busted

MUMBAI, June 8: Matunga police arrested one Ashok Sureshchandra Joshi near Telang Municipal Primary School for illegaly procuring school admission forms and selling them to parents at higher rates. The school was one of the 13 admission centres opened by the Brihan Mumbai Municipality Corporation (BMC) to enable parents secure seats for their wards in primary schools in the city through the government quota. At the school, a few men were seen hovering around the long queue of parents waiting to fill the admission forms. A reporter who happenned to be around was accosted by Joshi and offered the form for Rs 20. The same form costs Rs 2 at the counter. On being questioned, the tout said that he had got the form from the F-North ward office of the BMC. An FIR was later filed against Joshi at the Matunga police station and Joshi was arrested.
