Rebels rule at the rink

MUMBAI, June 8: In a thrilling finale to the Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink Hockey Tournament, Rebels overcame a strong challenge by Royal Blues by 10 goals to seven at the Bandra Gymkhana on Sunday night. It was Royal Blues who shot into the lead when they struck in the very first minute and then made it 2-0 in the second. Undeterred by the early setbacks, Rebels came back strongly and pumped in six goals in the first half to make it 6-3 at lemon time. Royal Blues dominated the early proceedings in the second half and neutralised the deficit. But Rebels were no through yet and they took a match-winning lead in the later part of second half. Nadeem Sheikh sounded the board six times for the winners, while Alex D'Souza and Sean Perreira shared the other four goals. For Royal Blues, Weldon Miranda hit four and Claes Ferreira three.
