MUMBAI, June 9: Thane city will have the first subway near the Thane railway station, next only to Churchgate railway station in Mumbai. Prakash Paranjpe, MP, moved the matter with the Central Railway and is confident that the project which will turn out to be an asset for the city.

Paranjpe met the general manager of the Central Railway Nirmal Chandra Sinha and reiterated the need for a subway for Thane without affecting the vehicular traffic outside the station premises. He also said Thane Municipal Commissioner T Chandrashekar was also in favour of the same and jointly visited the station area last week to conduct a survey.

Central Railway authorities also paid a visit to the Thane station last week to find out a practical solution to this problem and also on the invitation of the municipal commissioner.
