Post report bid to sabotage Indo-Pak talks, says Centre
India retaliated on the allegations regarding the Prithvi missiles'deployment in forward areas bordering Pakistan, and then saying that Prime Minister I K Gujral had assured the United States diplomats that India would not deploy those missiles.

India today expressed regrets for the ``entirely inadvertent'' intrusion of an IAF helicopter into Bangladesh territory and assured Dhaka that necessary steps have been taken by the air force authorities to prevent such incidents.

ITC net shoots up to Rs 347 crore
The board of ITC Ltd yesterday declared a dividend of 40% for the year to March 31, 1997, against 25% paid last year. The net profit for the year was Rs 346.90 crore, 33% higher than the Rs 261.08 crore recorded in the previous year.

State Bank officers to step up agitation
The State Bank of India Officers' Association has decided to intensify its stir from Monday. The stir will now cover the entire Maharashtra and Goa circles.The association is planning to launch an indefinite strike all over the country from June 23. Meanwhile the talks between the association and State Bank managment are on.

Banks told to execute court order in CRB case
Close on the heels of the Delhi High Court order asking banks to freeze the accounts of CRB and its sister companies, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed all commercial banks to take necessary action as indicated in the order. The order restricts all financial institutions from dealing with CRB Caps funds.

The Ficci task force on telecommunications, chaired by former telecom commission chairman N Vittal, has recommended multiple players in basic circles where service providers were not decided.

FIs dependence on IMF may trip
Indian financial institutions' dependence on multilaterlal agencies to raise long-term loans beyond 10 years will come to an end following the Union finance ministry's move to relax the external commercial borrowings guidelines and keep 10 year loans out of the ECB limit.
