CID probe into Khandelwal death challenged

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

PATNA, June 15: The alleged suicide by Harish Khandelwal, an accused in fodder scam, on May 6 in Dhanbad, took an interesting turn on Friday with Sushil Mody filing a petition before the High Court, seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the State Government, CID officials and Railway Police for overacting against the directions of the court.

According to the petition, the State CID, instead of cooperating with the CBI -- inquiring the suicide case -- was creating hindrances by not providing the required documents. Urging the court to restrain the CID and Railway Police from carrying on the investigation in the matter, the petition mentioned that under a well-planned design they were trying to falsely implicate the CBI investigating officer into the case.
