Mumbaiscan -- IA executives threaten to burn effigy of boss

MUMBAI, June 21: Members of the Indian Airlines Officers Association which represents the middle-level executives of the airline has threatened to burn the effigy of IA deputy managing director P J Crasta for transferring its leaders. According to a spokesman of the Association, this will be carried in the airport premises when the senior official is expected in Mumbai this month-end. Similar protests will be organised in other cities as well, according to IAOA. The association which is demanding a proper transfer policy for its executives recently got Union Minister for Civil Aviation, C M Ibrahim, to stall the transfer of some of its office-bearers. The Association holds that its top office-bearers including top office-bearers nominated for full-time union work are immune from transfer. Rotary Club anniversary MUMBAI: Rotary Club of Bombay Chembur North, District 3140, will celebrate its third anniversary of charter presentation and the installation ceremony of Rtn B F Suryakumar as President and his team for the year 1997-97 on Sunday at 10.30 am. The ceremony will be held at Jewel of Chembur, opposite M-Ward municipal office near Natraj Theatre, Road No 1, Chembur, Mumbai-400 071.
