Dubai auto show in November

ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU

NEW DELHI, June 23: The world's largest show for 4-wheel drive passenger vehicles will be held from November 11-15 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Apart from the 4-wheel vehicles themselves, the Middle East International Motor Show (MEIMS) will, for the first time, include a exhibition for motor parts and accessories.

According to the exhibition's organisers, this combination of exhibitions will make it the largest international automotive event in the region. All told, automotive products from 26 countries will occupy over 25,000 square metres of floor space.

The organisers expect ten per cent more visitors this year in 1995, MEIMS attracted 40,000 quality visitors, 34 per cent of whom were from the Gulf, Middle East, Africa and the sub-continent.

Today the Japanese lead the market for 4-wheel drive vehicles in the region. According to Santos Guerero, general manager (sales & marketing), Al Futtain Motors, the UAE itself absorbs around 1,200 4-wheel drives a month while the Saudi Arabian market is around 5 times more.
