DURG, June 23: Paltan Mallah, main accused in the murder of trade union leader Shankar Guha Niyogi, was today sentenced to death by second Additional District Judge T K Jha.

Five other accused in the case -- Moolchand Shah, Chandrakant Shah, Gyan Prakash Mishra, Awadesh Rai Singh and Abhay Singh -- were sentenced to life imprisonment while three others were let off.
