3000 left jobless by Govt. order on kiosks

TIRUCHIRAPPALLI, June 22: About 3,000 persons have been left jobless by the TN Government's order to remove snack kiosks started by the National Association of Educated Self Employed (NAESEY) at hospital premises and medical institutions. The Health and Family Welfare Department said the closure of the kiosks had been ordered as they were `unhygenic' and posed a health risk. Each booth employees seven persons who are the bread-winners for the family. The Kiosks were started on the recommendation of the then Vice-Chancellor of the Madras University, Dr Malcolm Adiseshiah, under the Central Government's 20-point programme.
