MUMBAI -- SKF Bearings India has stepped up the dividend to 40 per cent for the year ended March 1997 from 35 per cent. Total income at Rs 412 crore was up by 7 per cent compared to Rs 384 crore last year. The profit before tax, however, shot up by 18 per cent at Rs 58.65 crore from Rs 48.25 crore. The net profit is also higher at Rs 29.1 crore against Rs 23.2 crore last year. Goa Carbon MUMBAI -- The directors of Goa Carbon have recommended a bonus issue in the ratio of one-for-one and a dividend of 30 per cent for the year ended March 1997. Net sales during the year amounted to Rs 42.06 crore (Rs 26.01 crore) and it earned a gross profit of Rs 5.69 crore (Rs 4.38 crore) and a net profit of Rs 2.76 crore (Rs 2.16 crore). Tata Sons MUMBAI -- Dr Jameshed J Irani, managing director of Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited since 1992, has been appointed a director of Tata Sons Limited with effect from June 19.Tata Sons is the holding company of the Rs 30,000 crore Tata group. Tata Sons is estimated to have made a net profit of Rs 130 crore in 1997. The market value of its investments is around Rs 2,000 crore.
