Delhi conman in police net forRs 5 cr fraud

NEW DELHI, June 24: Ashok Biswal, a Delhi-based property dealer accused of duping a number of people in Kerala of Rs five crore, was arrested by the Kerala police here recently. Biswal has been given transit remand for 10 days so that he can be taken to Ernakulam in Kerala for interrogation. The Kerala police have been looking for Biswal ever since they were flooded with complaints from Kochi city (North) that he had duped them of money by promising gas agency allotments to them. Based on their complaints and preliminary investigations, the Kerala police lodged a case of cheating and forgery against him. The cheating amounts to Rs five crore. Another case registered against Biswal in Kochi City (South) pertains to cheating a resident of Rs 14 lakh by promising to him a gas agency distributorship. Finding incriminating evidence against Biswal the Kerala police tracked him down to Delhi. Armed with a non-bailable warrant on June 18, they raided his house at B-46, Raju Park, Khanpur near Kalkaji and arrested him.
