Calcutta, Chennai circles under MTNL

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is considering the option of adding two more metros of Calcutta and Chennai to the portfolio of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL). In this scenario, MTNL would be spun off into an independent corporation which would handle the four metros.

Essar, Sisco boards okay merger plan

The boards of directors of Essar Shipping and South India Shipping Corporation (Sisco) have approved the proposal to merge Sisco with Essar Shipping.

RBI allows 30% FII stake in Mastek

The Reserve Bank of India has approved Mastek Ltd's proposal to raise the foreign portfolio investment limit in its shares to 30% from the current 24%. Earlier the company's board and the general body of the shareholders had given its approval.
