Mumbai Notes -- Youth drowned
In a tragic incident, an 18 year-old boy drowned in a nallah near gate no 2 of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) establishment at Panvel on Friday. Naval authorities rushed into action on receiving the information, and a team of five naval divers led by Lt S K Dhaka was despatched to the scene of tragedy. After a hectic search operation, the divers were able to recover the body which was subsequently handed over to authorities on Tuesday. Video production A three-day workshop on Video production will be held from July 2 at K C college, Churchgate. The workshop will be conducted by Prof Wayne Levy, senior lecturer in Information Management, Melbourne, Australia. Quantas scheme Passengers flying to Australia on the Australian airline - QUANTAS - on an excursion fare can now buy two tickets for the price of one. This scheme has been started to celebrate the airline's completion of one year of operations in India. Lecture at SIES The South Indian Education Society (SIES) has organised a lecture by Pujyashri Swami Tejomayanandji, the head of the Chinmayananda Mission. He will speak on `The Road Ahead - How to achieve economic progress without destruction of culture and tradition'. The lecture forms part of the inaugral function being organised by the SIES to commemorate the completion of 50 years of India's independence.
