MUMBAI -- Rallis India has recorded a marginal increase in net profit at Rs 22.80 crore for the year ended March 31, 1997, against Rs 22.27 crore last year. Dividend has been maintained at Rs 4.50 per share. Total income for the period rose 19.71 per cent to touch Rs 1170.92 crore. According to the company, net profit remained at the same level due to sharply increased interest and depreciation charges. Gross profit before extraordinary items was Rs 81.31 crore.

Thirumalai Chem

MUMBAI -- Thirumalai Chemicals has posted a 15.79 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 16.42 crore for the year ended March 1996, as compared with Rs 19.50 crore the previous year. Sales dropped 8.25 per cent to Rs 135.96 crore from Rs 148.2 crore. The directors have recommended a dividend of Rs 2 per share which, along with the interim dividend of Rs 2 per share, amounts to Rs 4 per share.

Zandu Pharma

MUMBAI -- Zandu Pharmaceutical Works has reported a net profit of Rs 2.63 crore for the year ended March 31, 1997, lower than the figure of Rs 3.15 crore recorded last year. Sales totalled Rs 91.35 crore, compared to Rs 76.35 crore. The board of directors has recommended a 1:5 bonus issue and a dividend of Rs 30 per share.
