Statescape -- Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam arrested in Ghaziabad
LUCKNOW: The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Syed Abdullah Bukhari, was today arrested in Ghaziabad while on way to Lucknow, police said here. Bukhari was not allowed to proceed to Lucknow to prevent any breach of peace there on the occasion of chehellum tomorrow, they said. Maulana Kalbe Jawwad flayed the arrest of Bukhari who, he said, was coming to the state capital on a peace mission. He lauded Bukhari's efforts to resolve the azadari issue in consultations with Shia and Sunni leaders. Human error caused near air collision NEW DELHI: A ``human error'' by a radar controller at the Air Traffic Control (ATC) here was prima facie believed to be responsible for the near mid-air collision between two foreign aircraft with 370 passengers on board, near here on Sunday. Airbus 310 of Romania Airlines was bound for Bucharest while the Boeing 767 of Gulf Air had taken off for Dubai when they came dangerously close to each other 44 nautical miles south west of Delhi. Preliminary investigations by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the ``lapse'' by the radar controller on duty brought the two aircraft within 500 feet of each other, which was half the permissible distance of vertical separation of 1,000 feet.
