MELBOURNE, June 25: Soccer will likely kick off the 2000 Olympics in Sydney -- two days before the opening ceremonies -- in an effort to spread out the congested tournament schedule.

Fifa Olympic Committee delegate David Hill was commenting today on published reports that satellite venues in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane would get the jump on Sydney.
