Pune to host Asia Cup TT

MUMBAI, June 25: The Asia Cup table tennis championship, one of the two major international events to be held in the country this year, would be staged at Pune from November 14 to 17. The other international event -- the fourth Asian Junior table tennis championship -- would be held in Goa from September 1 to 6, according to a Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) release, here today. The Asian junior camp to prepare for the above tournament would be held in Goa from August 22 to 31, the release said. Following is the international calendar: US Open table tennis championship at Fort Lauderdale (USA) from July 2 to 7; The fourth Asian Junior table tennis championship in Goa from September 1 to 6; Asia Cup at Pune from November 14 to 17; First Asian Veteran championship at Melbourne, Australia from Nov 30 to Dec 6. National events: Inter-Institutional table tennis championship from August 15-19 (venue yet to be decided); Khar Gymkhana Open prize money tournament at Mumbai from Sept 20-23; Central India Open at Mumbai from Sep 24-30; Southern India Open at Vijayawada from Oct 2-6; Western India Open at Bhavnagar from Oct 7-10; Northern India open at Jaipur from Oct 21-25; Eastern India Open at Calcutta from Nov 3-8; The Sub-Junior Nationals at Assam from Nov 22-29; The Junior Nationals at Manipur from Dec 1-8; The Senior National championships at Jammu from January 4 to 10, 1998.
