No more CBI transfers: Gujral
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CALCUTTA, July 1: Prime Minister I K Gujral, today said the transfer of outgoing CBI Joginder Singh, was a routine one on promotion, and assured that no further transfer in the department was in the offing. Gujral said, ``gentlemen, who were dealing with the fodder scam in Bihar, were not transferred, and CBI will continue to function effectively''. Asked whether by transferring Singh, the Prime Minister was trying to shield some politicians in Bihar, Gujral retorted ``I should not be interrogated on the issue. I will not comment on it since it is sub-judice and amounts to contempt of court''. Copyright © 1997 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
