Court asks FEFSI not to interfere in production

CHENNAI, July 4: The Madras High Court has asked the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) not to interfere with the production of films by members of the Tamil Film Producers Council with technicians and artistes willing to work. According to a petition submitted by the council, the federation which supplied workers to the producers based on wages fixed by it, had of late started increasing the wages and miscellaneous charges from time to time which had resulted in higher production costs. This resulted in the producers withdrawing their affiliation to the federation and starting their own association. FEFSI members opposed the move and threatened to damage the production equipments if this was to be. Repeated negotiations between the council and federation have failed to find an amicable solution to the issue.
