Selectors watch the probables
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Bangalore, July 5: All THE five selectors who were present at the
Chinnaswamy Stadium, made a close scrutiny of the probables at the
conditioning-cum-selection camp here on Saturday. Barring Saurav Ganguly who
is suffering from a sore throat, the rest of the players went through a long
session as the rains kept away. Even Mumbai speedster Abey Kuruvilla, who
was down with a fever, had recovered sufficiently and joined the others for
an extended session.
Chairman of the selection committee Ramakant Desai told mediapersons that
the list of 27 will be pruned to 16, 14 of whom will represent India in the
Asia Cup to be held later this month and the other two would join later for
the Test series.
Regarding the inclusion of 27 members as probables, Desai said: ``We wanted
to see more bowlers as we have a weak bowling attack.''
