NSS plans for independence celebrations

Nagpur, July 6: The state unit of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has planned a series of programmes beginning next month to involve nearly 2 lakh college students from nine universities in the State in constructive work.Unfolding the plan, state NSS coordinator Rajan Welukar and Assistant Programme advisor H S Suresh told a press conference, last week, that these programmes have been planned to celebrate the golden jubilee of Indian independence. As a part of it, each of nearly 800 NSS units in colleges affiliated to the NSS will adopt a village to implement schemes like construction of low cost latrines, set up libraries in rural areas. It will be launched on the eve of Independence day anniversary.Other events include two-day workshop on `pre-marriage preparation' for girl students in the final year degree course, watershed development and water conservation schemes, a ten-day national camp for girl students, inter- university workshop on music, literature and culture, five-day residential camp on healthy lifestyle and art of living, inter-state exchange programmes.
