Paswan promises to hasten railway projects

NANDYAL, July 6: Union Railway Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, said on Saturday that his ministry would complete all the ongoing projects as per schedule and convert all meter-gauge lines to broad-gauge in another five years.Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly-converted Nandyal-Guntakal broad-gauge section here, Paswan said budgetary support to the ministry has been slashed from 18 to 16 per cent over the last two years and it has affected the ongoing projects severely. Despite the crunch, the ministry will not shelve any project either in the north-eastern states, Jammu & Kashmir, or any other region. Additional resources would be mobilised internally and externally. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, State Roads and Buildings Minister were present.
