Thane to have four new junior colleges

July 6:On the eve of the start of the new educational year the state government has during the week sanctioned four new junior colleges for Thane district. This will make room for about 500 students who have passed out their SSC exams recently. Giving this information here today, the district education officer, V K Vankhede, said that these colleges would be permanently unaided. Of these one each have been sanctioned at Thane, Bhayander, Mira Road, and Virar he said. The Saraswathi Vidhyalaya high school run by the Saraswathi Vidhyaprasarak Trust, has been sanctioned one junior college of English medium in Thane city. The principal of the college M S Korde said that the college would issue and accept forms on Monday and Tuesday, and has a full-fledged computer lab and a team of the best of teaching staff for the science faculty. The chairman of the trust, L V Vasavda and a member of the governing council C N Mirani, said that the trust had plans to go in for full-fledged degree college if all goes well and if they get support from the state government. The other junior colleges sanctioned are one for the Diwan English high school run by the Sarita Education Trust at Bhayander for commerce stream, Niranjanlal Delmie high school, run by the Dalmia Education Trust at Mira Road, science stream, and MGM Academy high school, at Bolinj, Virar, commerce stream.
