21 former principals felicitated

July 6: Twenty-One retired city college principals were recently felicitated by the Association of Non-Government Colleges (ANGC) at Lala Lajpatrai College at Haji Ali. Attended by the Minister of Higher and Technical Education Datta Rane and Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University Dr Snehalata Deshmukh, apart from a host of academicians, this function also saw the release of a telephone directory containing the phone numbers and addresses of all the university affiliated city colleges and their principals. In his opening address, ANGC president Principal M G Shirahatti lauded the services rendered by these outgoing principals to society. ``Retirement, though, should not be a constraint to the principals to continue in the right earnest for the benefit of education,'' he said. The vice-chancellor in her address said, ``The services of these principals will definitely be utilised by the university. Currently, many of them are helping us with the first year degree admissions.''
